Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria

Jurnal Teknologi Pangan (JTP) is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects the intellectual contributions and responsibilities of individuals involved in scholarly research. The journal adopts internationally recognised authorship principles, particularly the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify for authorship, an individual must meet all four of the following criteria:

  1. Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.

  2. Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Approve the final version of the manuscript intended for publication.

  4. Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work, including addressing questions related to the accuracy and integrity of the research.

All individuals who meet these criteria should be included as authors. Individuals who do not meet all four criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

2. Author Contributions

Authors are encouraged to provide a clear statement describing their individual contributions using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), where applicable.

Contributions may include conceptualisation, methodology, investigation, formal analysis, data curation, validation, writing, supervision, and project administration.

Participation solely in funding acquisition, administrative support, general supervision, or language editing does not automatically justify authorship.

3. Author Order and Corresponding Author

The order of authors must be agreed upon collectively before manuscript submission.

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the editorial office, ensuring that all authors have approved the manuscript, coordinating revisions, and communicating editorial decisions to co-authors.

The corresponding author must also ensure the accuracy of author names, affiliations, and contact information.

4. Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be accompanied by a written explanation and documented agreement from all affected authors.

The Editor in Chief will evaluate such requests before making a decision.

Changes in authorship after publication may require a formal correction notice. Unresolved authorship disputes may be referred to the authors' affiliated institutions.

5. Unacceptable Authorship Practices

JTP does not permit:

  • Gift or honorary authorship: including individuals who have not made sufficient scholarly contributions.

  • Ghost authorship: excluding individuals who have made substantial qualifying contributions.

  • Guest authorship: including prominent individuals solely to increase the perceived credibility of the manuscript.

  • Unauthorised authorship changes: adding or removing authors without appropriate agreement.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of scientific work.

Authors must disclose substantive use of generative AI in manuscript preparation or research, specifying the tool and its purpose in an appropriate section of the manuscript.

Authors remain fully responsible for verifying AI-assisted content, including references, numerical information, and scientific interpretations.

7. Authorship Disputes

Any concern regarding authorship should be reported to the editorial office at jtp@upnjatim.ac.id.

The journal will assess the available evidence and may request clarification from all parties or seek assistance from the relevant institutions.

Decisions will be guided by fairness, transparency, and recognised publication ethics principles.
