Post-Publication Discussion Policy
Jurnal Teknologi Pangan (JTP) recognises that scholarly communication continues after publication.
Constructive scientific discussion, critical evaluation, and post-publication feedback are important mechanisms for strengthening research quality, promoting transparency, and maintaining the integrity of the published scientific record.
The journal provides opportunities for readers, researchers, and other stakeholders to raise scientific questions or concerns regarding published articles.
1. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion
Post-publication discussion may address:
-
Scientific interpretations and conclusions.
-
Experimental designs and methodological limitations.
-
Statistical analysis and data interpretation.
-
Reproducibility and reliability of findings.
-
Research ethics and transparency.
-
Significant errors or inconsistencies in published articles.
For research in food science and technology, relevant discussions may include analytical validation, experimental replication, food safety conclusions, microbial analysis, sensory evaluation procedures, or product characterisation.
2. Submission of Comments and Scientific Concerns
Readers may submit comments, questions, or evidence-based critiques to the editorial office.
Email: jtp@upnjatim.ac.id
Correspondence should include:
-
The title and DOI or URL of the published article.
-
The specific scientific issue being raised.
-
A clear explanation supported by relevant evidence or references.
-
The name and contact details of the correspondent.
The journal encourages constructive academic dialogue and discourages personal attacks, defamatory statements, and unsupported allegations.
3. Editorial Evaluation
The editorial team will assess the relevance, clarity, scientific basis, and ethical implications of submitted comments.
When appropriate, the Editor in Chief may forward substantive questions or criticisms to the corresponding author for a response.
Independent expert advice may be sought for complex scientific issues.
The journal reserves the right not to publish correspondence that is irrelevant, abusive, misleading, or insufficiently supported by evidence.
4. Author Responses
Authors are encouraged to respond to legitimate scientific questions concerning their published work.
Responses should address the substantive issues raised and, when necessary, provide additional methodological explanations, supporting analyses, or relevant data.
Authors remain accountable for the accuracy and integrity of their published findings.
5. Publication of Discussion Outcomes
Where appropriate, the journal may publish an editorial clarification, scholarly comment, author response, or other relevant communication.
The format of public discussion will depend on the nature of the issue and the technical capabilities of the journal's publishing platform.
If a discussion identifies an error affecting the published record, the journal will apply its Correction and Retraction Policy.
6. Ethical Conduct
All parties are expected to communicate respectfully and professionally.
The editorial office will assess legitimate concerns regardless of whether they support or challenge the conclusions of a published article.
The objective of post-publication discussion is to strengthen scientific understanding rather than to discourage academic debate.
